The next  macronutrient is the building block of our body!!

Yes, you guessed it right !!They are the Proteins. Proteins play a major role in almost all the processes that take place in our body. Especially Proteins help in healthy growth of your child, giving them the required muscle mass.

The amount of protein which we require as an adult is one gram/ kg of body weight/ per day. For your ever active child, the requirement is higher. It is 1.5 gram / kg of his or her body weight/day. One gram of Protein provides four kilo calories of energy.

Unlike carbohydrates ,proteins cannot be stored in the body and the protein tank has to be replenished everyday based on the requirement of the body.

Research says that more than 75% of Indians are protein deficient although there are no much symptoms of any deficiency in their body. The symptoms might show up when it’s too late, resulting in chronic lifestyle disorders that we are observing in younger generation as well in recent times.

Thus it is very important to make your child’s meal protein rich. Make sure your child has the dal and pulses twice or three times a week. Include sprouts, corn and paneer in your child‘s diet.  Following these healthy habits at an young age inculcates healthy eating routines in your child which obviously will help them make healthy choices when they grow up.
