FOOD - THE REAL MEDICINE

The quote "Let food be thy medicine"  by Hippocrates attributes therapeutic  qualities to food. The healing properties in the food can help us recover faster and better from illness . Ayurveda, which is our ancient science of medicine and healing, prescribes numerous treatments through food. With home made concoctions many small illnesses can be treated.
Here are some simple but effective home made remedies for small illnesses.
A thick concoction of tulsi, ginger ,turmeric ,pepper and clove in jaggery water is an effective medicine for your child when suffering from cough ,cold ,throat infection, etc.
Giving milk mixed with ginger,turmeric and jaggery at night before going to bed, is a great immunity booster. 
Giving your child a fistful of soaked groundnuts with jaggery will help mainatain their haemoglobin levels.
Ladoos prepared using jaggery, dry fruits ,essential seeds like flax seeds, black raisins and black dates are packed with proteins. They give them strength and cater to their active lifestyle.
