CARBS - FIT OR FAT

Carbohydrates are the largely consumed Nutrients in our daily food routine. They form the major chunk/portion of your meal plate.
1g of carbohydrates provide 4kcal of energy.
They can be classified as Simple and Complex Carbohydrates based on the number of Carbon atoms they have in the structure.
The Simple Carbohydrates are easy to breakdown and provide immediate energy once consumed.
Example: Sugar , Maida, all processed foods that are packed and sealed, confectionaries, certain fruits like banana, orange.
Complex carbohydrates have a complex chain of carbon atoms and the process of digestion is prolonged due to their complex structure this form is preferred to be consumed as keep you tummy fuller for longer duration and doesn't shoot up the Insulin Levels in your Bloodstream immediately.
Example Whole Wheat , Millets like Ragi, Bajra Jowar, Foxtail millets etc ,most Pulses also contain small amount of complex carbohydrates.
Complex carbohydrates are beneficial for our body and  can be consumed in the form of various dishes like parathas, dosas made from mixed Millet floors along with grated vegetables of your choice. Adding Jaggery instead of sugar to your Childs desserts is a healthier option.
